Tom and Connie dated for five years (since sophomore year in high school) and got married in 1968. They have three children. Two are involved in the family business.  Their oldest son works with computers and is doing well.

 

Tom and Connie started running their business out of their basement in Mounds View, Minnesota in 1970.  They then opened a retail store in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota in 1972.  They named their business "Mister Carpet" for approximately six months.  They were then informed that someone else had that name in southern Minnesota.  Tom and Connie conjoined their names and THOMCO was born. 

 

In 1976, Tom and Connie decided to open a store in Forest Lake.  They ran both the Spring Lake Park and Forest Lake stores for approximately two years.  In 1978, they agreed to close the Spring Lake Park location and function soley out of Forest Lake. 

 

Thomco Carpets has been functioning out of the same store for almost 30 years!  With two remodels completed, the store is finished and very comfortable for customers to browse.
